We checked a few "what stuff costs" websites, and shopped some skin clinics, dermatologists, and tattoo parlors.
That's right. Artists will put it on with a needle and then take it off with a laser. It costs more for off than on.
Laser tattoo removal prices run from two-hundred to five-hundred dollars per treatment, from a doctor, according to InfoPlasticSurgery.com.
• For a light fade you'll pay a couple grand.
• For deeper results, you will shell out up to ten thousand dollars.
• Your friendly neighborhood tat artist will undo his work for an average of one-hundred-fifty dollars a pop.
Don't spare the pain killers.
1. You will want anesthetic. The shots cost fifty dollars or more. A laser blast bites your skin and your bank account.
2. You'll also want a numbing lotion afterward. Prescription only. Add another twenty dollars plus a doctors visit. One website suggests you shop a local medical school for a discount from a doctor-in-training. It's kind of like going to a beauty school for a haircut. You get what you pay for.
You could also see if they have a dermatology student willing to practice dermabrasion on you. Otherwise,
• A skin clinic will charge $100 per treatment.
• A dermatologist will charge more.
• A plastic surgeon will steer you to lasers or surgery. Cutting makes lasers look cheap.
At home tattoo removal cream.
• On average, it's 40 bucks an ounce.
• With a cotton swab or finger, it's very specific. No waste.
• You will need a lot for daily treatment over three to six months.
• Let's say an ounce a week, for 12 weeks. Under $500.
Here's the deal. No matter which technique you choose, you cannot know in advance what it will cost because you cannot know how many sessions or how long it will take.
